What Breed Are These Two girls??

Ok then BR! I love my BR ladies. A couple are hatchery girls, three and a half years old, and they still lay well. The rest are a couple generations removed from the hatchery, various ages, and all are great layers.

Do your BR's lay as hard of an egg as she does?
Those things are hard to crack!

Thanks for all of the help, now I can make my sig knowing what my girls are!

The hardness of the shell is mostly due to diet. If they are eating what chickens are supposed to eat...bugs, grass..etc. They are tough shells to crack..but never had that be a problem at hatching time..they still manage to zip them open.

They are egg laying fools. Also very nice ladies to make pets out of.
Usually they aren't really big..but the eggs sure are.

That's great to know since she just started laying 2 weeks ago! She's easily 8 pounds, and is the biggest and prettiest of the flock.
We're brand new to raising chickens, but if I didn't know better, I'd think that she was a show bird with all of the glossy feathers she has.

Thanks Robin!!I really like her colors, and finding out just what she is makes it a lot easier to plan for the future.....lots of different chickens in the first flock....we're already planning for at least 6 more, plus a cow in the future....
