See attached photo; i have 2. I was given 5 birds in a less than inhabitable case. Just nursing them alone.

They were born early 2022 and supposedly lay a tan egg

They are not, the proportions are wrong for OEGB. Where did you get them? They look like smaller standard birds, probably 3-5lb, what are their weights?

Bantam leghorn vs standard leghorn sizes
I got them from a friend of a friend having to move. Believe they came from tsc originally… if it was a leghorn wouldn’t the egg be white? These birds are 2-3 lbs tops

Have you seen their eggs yet, or is the egg color information from your friend? Those are standard White Leghorns and they should lay white eggs.

3-5lb is what most leghorns weigh, and given their condition I imagine they could gain a bit, but they're not bantams. They'd be much smaller if they were bantams. Their earlobes are white so they'll lay a white egg, I suspect it's the other hens that are laying tan eggs.

Yesterday was first day i brought them home. Unless they been eatin eggs and other birds laying double for
The last 3 yrs; guy said he never had a white egg or blue / green egg. Only tan / browns. So that ruled out my original olive & leggern .

Guy states they been that small since birth.

Yall keep sayin standard leggern. These birds are tee niny. Ive got 6-8 wk olds bigger than these birds .

I will know in the next few days, if they lay. If I cant figure it out i will dye there vent

They are not bantam leghorns as those guys are half the size of these. I promise, leghorns are not big birds. You don't have to believe me but I have owned bantam leghorns and OEGB, your birds are easily double the size of bantams. Bantam Leghorns should fit fully in your hand, yours are too large to be bantam and are standard size proportion. Additionally, the likelihood of a feed store having bantam leghorns is honestly pretty low.

Considering the condition of the birds and their age, I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't laying as much any more. white earlobe= white egg except in some breeds, which since these are leghorns I doubt someone was mix breeding them for colored eggs since that sort of defeats the point of the med/LG white egg they are known for. They could be egg eaters, owner could have been wrong, they could have hidden the eggs, the white eggs were dirty and appeared tan, etc.

Here is the bantam leghorn for reference again, your hens are at least double the size a bantam would be. Yes there are many large fowl birds bigger than leghorns, but true leghorns are small standard birds, maybe you're thinking of Cornish X? Those are pretty big white common birds :)

They were kept in a 6x6 pen with a decent size coop and like a 6x3 area under the coop. Never free ranged always penned up

I have to say there living condition overall was very dry, no mud, but plenty shade, and a fan with ventilation also.

The birds themself just look so unhealthy. Im not disagreeing with you over breed. When i get home
This afternoon i will catch one again and put innmy hand for comparison.. im 6’1 330 lb, so maybe that why it look off. I promise the bird innmy hand is same size as what u have
