So I bought some chicks from Stock & Field a little over 4 weeks ago and I can’t for the life of me remember what breed I got. They like to scratch and dig for bugs, flighty, and are somewhat nervous. In the pictures they look big but they’re still pretty small. Thanks!

So for context- they're a production breed- you'll likely see a LOT of brown eggs from these girls. They tend to produce heavily and not live as long as other types of chickens (they can start to have problems late in their second year). Their egg factories are at full speed between molts- so they 'wear out' a little faster. And depending on the parent crosses used to develop these particular chicks- if you breed them- they're highly unlikely to 'breed true'. Which means you'll have a variety of colors and patterns- so essentially 'barnyard mix' chicks.

That said- they're great to have around for lots of fresh eggs (enough to share with family and neighbors each week).
