Hi there!! I got what many on here have helped me to discern is a silver appleyard duckling a few days ago (the yellow one) from Tractor Supply, but her buddy sadly didn’t make it home from the feed store. We were finally able to find “her” (I hope) some buddies today, and I would love to know what they may be!!!
The two black ones are the one I have no idea what are! Lord’s Willing, any ideas would be appreciated!

Oh, Rouens should be too large to fly. They may be able to get off the ground and glide, but they won’t be flying away.
That would be such a blessing!! 😊 Thank you for the help! :celebrate Do they tend to be pretty friendly? I’m so sorry for all of the questions, I’m just so excited!

They certainly can be. I’d say most of a duck’s temperament has to do with how they’re raised. I allowed my ducklings to climb all over me and eat from my hands. As adults, they naturally drift a bit. They don’t like being approached or touched very much, and I respect their feelings. I like to just sit in their area and exist near them. They will approach me, eat from my hands, chew on my clothes. I taught them, “food food” to get them to come when called. Sometimes they’ll follow me around the yard on their own accord. It’s very nice!

That’s precious!! We’ve had several different kinds, and tried to love on them all the same when they were ducklings, but admittedly we did play with/love on some batches more than others just because of time. But I’ll tell ya, we had 2 Cayuga ducklings that we were blessed enough to hatch out, and I would have never believed in the “imprinting” thing if I hadn’t witnessed it with those two! They went EVERYWHERE I walked.
I thought it was because they knew only us since day one, but if yours follow you too, then I still have hope!

Actually, the first ducks to really trust me and follow me around were the ducks I didn’t raise and instead got as adults. They were unbelievably skittish at first, but I gave them the same respect, time, and teachings as my raised ducklings, and they completely came around! You’d never know that I didn’t raise them.

That’s incredible! What a blessing!! Well now I REALLY have some hope! I love when they act like puppies and just follow every step! And the trust they show you just melts me! Thank you so much for sharing that, I really pray that these babies grow up to be that lovey, and that I show them all the love and respect to get them there!
