What breed chick is this?

Good evening everyone ( from Cali) I’ve had 3 chickens for a couple of years now and lost one a while back. So I only had 2. When My Easter egger went broody I put some eggs under her. 9 out of 10 hatched on time except for a dark brown egg. After a day I took it out and candeled it ( been reading how to on this forum) and it had pipped and was moving. After a day I decided to help it out of its shell ( also read how to here , so many helpful people) since it took over 3 days to hatch broody hen would not accept it just pushes this chick away and pecks him on the head so instead I had my husband build me a brooder and I keep him or her inside and rotate the other chicks so it’s not lonely. My question is what breed of chicken is this and can u tell if it’s a hen or a roo. ( I can’t keep roosters where I live ) thanks so much to everyone for taking time to read my post.

It's too young to tell hen or rooster yet! If you update us when it's about 6-8 weeks old, people here will probably be able to tell you then! as far as breed, we probably wont know for sure yet, but since you said it hatched from a dark brown egg, and it looks like it's got some feathers on its feet, and a straight comb, I'm feeling pretty confident to guess it's a Marans :]

I will update for sure. I was thinking maybe a blue maran.I posted a pic of the egg that it hatched from. But I don’t know much about chickens.

The head spot males me think it'll be barred, so maybe cuckoo marens.

I will have to post a better pick of the wings. They do look barred somewhat. It’s hard to get a pic because this chick is wild I do think she’s cuckoo lol

Here’s some more pics of him or her. But I do think he’s/she’s showing some barring and hatched with a dot on head. 3 weeks old tomorrow. Got him some friends (2) EE. They are hens according to the feed store
