What breed & gender am I?.? (Bought as Barnevelder)

True. But there’s nothing back there. Not even the tail from the first set of feathers that juveniles get.
I agree there's not a lot to look at. Are you thinking maybe it's rumpless? I don't think we have any rumpless breeds in Aus- our Araucanas have tails.

I can't think of any Barney colours we have over here that are that orange either, so assume it's something else, or at least a mix.

I assume it's a boy thing, some of them seem very slow to grow tails.

Can't really help with breed either, can you contact the place you got them from and ask what breeds they have?

Yes, I've penned an email to the breeder this morning. They have about 12 breeds, including Isa Browns and some crosses but this guy doesn't jump out at me. Suspect as some have already suggested that he's a cross.

I also assumed it was a male thing the lack of tail feathers, been like that a while. There's no aggression amongst the group (just a bit of posturing between the D'uccle young cockerels) so it's not a result of fighting. His feather development is so slow compared to the GL Barnevelder and Plymouth Rock of the same age 🤷🏽‍♀️

I don’t think he’s physically rumpless. I just think he’s literally lacking his butt feathering haha. If you don’t think it’s from fighting then he’s probably just in the midst of an awkward feathering-in stage lol. I’m willing to bet he’s a mix of breeds/varieties

Of sorts?.? I emailed the breeder with photos at various stages from the day he came home at two week intervals to now and she suggested he looked like a Buff Orpington...
There's some resemblance, but I don't think he's pure BO as it doesn't match what he looked like as a chick. I'm pretty new to chickens though so happy to be corrected!!
