If he was sold as an Ameraucana, he's a mixed breed bird. The problem with breeds like the Bielefelders is they're an easy look to mimic simply by crossing a barred bird and a red bird. But just as all black dogs aren't Labs, all black and red barred birds aren't Bielefelders.

I believe the coloring on a Bielefelder is cuckoo over a black breasted red, so a rooster should have a black breast. OPs bird is red breasted, so the base color is wrong.

Right. That said, many of these hatcheries and breeders sell Easter Eggs as Ameraucanas. So you never truly know what you're getting.

Yes, he's a mixed breed. Because he was sold as an Ameraucana and clearly isn't, the sellers had no idea what he was. He fits no breed standard.
