What breed is Moony?

Moony is now 13 weeks old.
She hatched from a very beautiful dark marans egg.
However, I can’t pinpoint what colour marans she is? (Or if she even is one!)

She’s very dark in the face.

Can you please explain what you see in this bird that causes you to say Birchen? I thought Birchen was black with gold lacing. Still learning here!

Birchen is pretty much a solid black bird with Gold/Red or Silver in the Hackles, Shoulders, Hackles, Saddles(Males), & or sometimes some imperfect lacing in the breast.
The other name of the coloration is also called Crowwing, due to no colored wing bar.

These three boys are Birchen based, but also carry a gene for colored breast feathers.

She was definitely purchased as pure, so she better not be a cross

She's not blue copper because there is no copper in her plumage. But she could be blue birchen, a similar pattern where the copper is replaced with silvery white. Or she could just be a barnyard mix. I would judge by egg color once she starts laying.

Couldn't she be blue copper but also over melanized so it's not showing?

She's got Silver.
