It's not if she's Blue Birchen, or Regular Birchen. It's a different variant of Black, or Blue Birchen(Black, or Blue Copper), but a silver base instead of Red/Gold.Oh, right. Yeah, that is odd

But as far as titles go for color varieties, birchen is silver based and brown red or copper is gold based. Birchen is used as an umbrella term in genetics. That's how I learned it, anyway.Birchen is pretty much a solid black bird with Gold/Red or Silver in the Hackles, Shoulders, Hackles, Saddles(Males), & or sometimes some imperfect lacing in the breast.
The other name of the coloration is also called Crowwing, due to no colored wing bar.
These three boys are Birchen based, but also carry a gene for colored breast feathers.View attachment 4308931View attachment 4308934View attachment 4308937This is a Birchen hen I had many years ago. View attachment 4308948View attachment 4308949

Isn't brown red the same as black copper? Seems pretty close. I think of brown red OEGs as gold counterparts to birchen OEGs.Birchen/Crowwing is the Gene name of both Silver Birchen, & Black Copper.
Red Copper = Red Birchen
Silver Birchen = Birchen
