Quote: Rescued bantam rooster: breed? My boyfriend and I rescued a stray bantam rooster a few days ago. He just showed up in the neighborhood and started causing fights with other flocks and roosters. He got beat up pretty bad, and was covered in blood. Since we caught him, he has just been so sweet. This little guy was covered with mites and was starving. He is well fed now, and has been dusted for his mites. We put him in our vacant coop. He must have been hand raised because we can hold, pet, and feed him from our hands. We think he is a buff Brahma bantam, but we don't want to assume wrong. I would really appreciate some feedback on what breed he is, or if he is a mix. He does have feathered legs and yellow feet, but they may be difficult to see. He weighs between 2-4 lbs. Thank you

He doesn't look right for a Brahma, but he is quite a nice looking bird. Are his legs feathered? and what color are they?

I'd sure make an effort to find his owner, he looks like someone's bird. Not your typical loose chicken, or rooster dumped when they started to crow.

I have above stated that the rooster has feathered legs that are yellow. I have been trying to track down the owner since I caught him. Until I find his owner, he has a safe forever home at my homestead. I have put out fliers and ads, and went around the neighborhood talking to everyone. A rooster this nice shouldn't have been wandering. In my area, it is not uncommon for wildlife to break into chicken areas and decimate flocks. I'm sure his flock was attacked and he tried to escape. I have had him for a week, with no answers as to who the true owner is. He isn't a young bird. He is probably at least a couple years old. His spurs were very long and sharp when he was caught. Please, I only want ideas on what breed he is. Thank you.
