I have been told possibly a red phoenix or a red jungle fowl. He is about a year old.

One thing that is not obvious in the pics is that he has white earlobes. He is a LF bird.

Charlie is beautiful. Strutting his stuff. I guess he doesn't care, he knows he is wonderful. Wish I could help with the ID. Too much of a novice.

OK. Did a search for Leghorn and found a rooster image that looked very much like Charlie, right down to the earlobes. Then found a video of the chicken lady that is on YouTube, and she was showing a Brown Leghorn Hen that was much like Charlie without the Rooster-y bits. So I would say Brown Leghorn... The Classic Original Leghorn.

In case my color is off for the image, there are many colors of leghorns including many shades of Brown, Dark Brown, Light Brown, White, Buff, Black, Silver, Red, Black-Tailed Red, Columbian.

Whatever he is, he is very confident. I really like that in a rooster.

Do search on internet, but also check out feathersite images and see what you think. I can't tell if Charlie has blue in his underbelly, but maybe the image of the new breed of Blue Red might be close also

Yes, his whole breast (every 'dark' part shown in the roosting pic) is blue. I had thought about brown leghorn as well, but his exceptionally long tail has me stumped. But he doesn't have the right tail-carriage for a phoenix.

He isnt a Leghorn... The Leghorn legs are yellow.. Your rooster looks to have slate/ blue legs.

Yes, his legs are slate, so then he's probably a phoenix? That's what I have been thinking (and telling people), but like I said, the tail-carriage and the blue on his breast kind of throws me. I know that hatchery-stock phoenix's would not necessarily have the right tails, but still, the blue throws me. I assume he's from a hatchery, since I got him from an auction.
