What breed is my chicken?

I just purchased a new chicken to add to the flock I was wondering what breed it was? The owner didn’t know.

So a “crossbread” isnt a common thing?

Crossbreds are extremely common. They are also known as hybrids, mutt, barnyard mixes, etc... They tend to be hardier and sometimes lay better than some pure breeds.

She won’t lay, we’ve had her about 3 weeks now. She only a year old

It can take new hens 4-6 weeks to settle into their new homes and resume laying.

Really? That long? My Easter Egger hen laid the day after I brought her home.

If a new hen has eggs in her system of course she'll lay a couple then stop until she settles in. But typically a hen will stop for up to 6 weeks after a move due to the stress of the move itself, her new surrounds, new coop mates, and finding her place in the pecking order. Not that's not to say it happens 100% of the time. There are always exception of course.

Learned something else new! Never realized it could take so long for one to resume laying after moving.

I picked up a hen we call Funky Chicken (she is much prettier in person than her Craigslist picture was lol!), she began laying the 2nd day after coming home. I would consider that lucky then
