What breed is my dog?

Not sure, she has a little shepherd look to her. Your vet could probably guess more accurately.

My vet said she looked like a daucshand

Surveys have shown vets are wrong, in regards to breed, over 70% of the time. She looks similar to my Manchester terrier or Min Pin and probably Chihuahua mixed dog. Although she has a white chest & is only 12-ish lbs. I just call her a Manchester terrier mix, because it sounds cooler & interest people more. lol

My girl, Silly:

She's adorable! That's what she is. I agree with all that say terrier mix. Is she particularly skilled at rodent hunting? We rescued a "lab mix" a few years back and became suspicious when she displayed abject terror near water and had an affinity for catching squirrels. Just for fun, we bought a DNA test kit for her (Wisdom Panel was the brand). We didn't care what she was, but we're willing to spend the $75 to find out. Turns out our "lab mix" is hound, terrier and pointer. She's about the same size as your girl. Anyways, I highly recommend the genetic test if you are so inclined. It's quite accurate and totally fun. Just a quick cheek swab that you mail in.

Funny, I was going to suggest Manchester Terrier. But being a mix and especially a stray, how common or likely is that? I don't know how common that breed is?

Maybe mom was a manchester or some mix and not min pin?

Toy manchester is only about 10 to 15 lbs min pin the toys legs are super thin prone to breaking were a manchester bred to min pin could fix that and the manchester is a dominant just larger the dna might be a way to know but do not believe a herding dog in the woodpile there

Thanks!!!!! I might take that test! Would I have to take her somewhere?
Nope! They mail you the kit, and there are two vials in it with things that look like pipe cleaners. You just rub them on the inside of her cheek at home, put them in the plastic vial and drop it in the mail. It comes with a postage-paid box. They have you do two so they can verify the test. You just want to do the swabs first thing in the day before she eats, otherwise her results could be contaiminated by whatever her dog food is made of. You don't want your dog's DNA test to come back part beef or duck.:) Then the you can track the test progress online, just like with human DNA tests. They'll send you a cool report with their findings and a lot of info on the specific breeds they found.

Huh, i had no idea there were mini manchester terriers.

And i think silly looks min pin chihuahua. Or maybe rat terrier.

Actually, OPs dog could be too. There are some bigger ones

For the DNA test, I think Wisdom panel is one of the more accurate ones but there are some out there that aren't very accurate so I'd be careful and/or look into it, although it doesn't really matter too much since it's just for fun :)

I think Wisdom is pretty accurate though.

But there's another one that a bunch of dog YouTubers that I follow did called Embark that's supposed to be more accurate but idk. One of them did both that one and Wisdom but I forget what they said in regards to both.

But the nice thing about Embark is that it also tests for like a ton of health and genetic disorders so you can see what she has or may be prone to which is really useful.

It's supposed to be very accurate however I am sure both are.

However it's also a lot more expensive at $200 haha
