They are 15 weeks old. The rooster is suppose to be a purebred barred rock and the pullet is suppose to be a buff orpington. I got them when they were a day old. What do you think? And is the pullet really a pullet?

The roo looks like a BR cross of some kind since he is very dark and his comb doesn't look quite right for a pure BR. The hen looks like a red sex-link. Definitely not a buff orp.

Looks pretty much like a barred rock to me tho his legs are yellower than I remember mine as being, but that's not a buff orpington. Some kind of red sex-link maybe? I'm not good at red chickens.

I think she's a hen, though.

Nice guineas!

Looks like your in the same boat as me. Rarest of the rare but no one can tell me for sure. It's ok, I just wanted eggs but I could do without all the roosters. Live and learn I guess. Want some rare roosters tell me what I got I've got and trade you for hens.

The hen is a red sexlink.

On the other one is that red leakage on the shoulders?
Does it have some very dark/solid black feathers on the tail too?
If so that could be a Black sex-link roo. BSL roos only have one copy of the barring gene making them colored like a BR hen. Barred rock roos have 2 copies making lighter colored than the hens.

would a pullet have a comb like that? He/she is only 15 weeks old but the comb started getting red at about 4 weeks.

Now that I look again, it does look like there's a little red on the shoulders of that BR- is that so? If so, it's not a pure Barred Rock, and could be a roo.

BR have sizable combs, even the females. If the comb was large and pinkish from 4 weeks, that would be normal for a BR pullet, but reddish would indicate roo. My BR looked pretty much just like that at 14-15 weeks. One was really reddish, and she lay first. I'd also expect a crow very soon if it's a roo.

Here's one of mine around 12 weeks:

You can see wattles and pinkish hue, but not reddish- it may be a roo, after all, but certainly not full BR if it is- too much black.
