I love her looks, and it was told to me she was an Americauna..is she? Do I have a roo? She is so much bigger than her buddies I got at the same time. Any help is appreciated!

How old is she/he? The tail looks like it would be a roo but I can't really tell because it doesn't look like it started a comb growth.

about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks old. She/he was being starved out by the others during the first week, so I put her in her own box for a week, and she just seemed to out grow the others.

In my opinion she might be a pullet. I'm not really sure though on how long it takes for the comb to grow on Americaunas since I've never had any.

at that age, the combs won't be any different (if it's an EE). If it's a roo, you should start to see a bigger difference around 7-8 weeks

yeah i agree, EE and possibly a cockerel, it's kind of difficult to go off a peacomb wether it is a cockerel or pullet as they don't exactly grow very large.. I have 2 month (on the 10th) old cockerels i know for sure are cockerels..And you couldn't see the comb unlesss you got close or noticed the pinkness.

When sexing chickens the main things you should look at, Is color since a lot of the colors look differently for male/female.. Most of the times males will be lighter, excluding the red varieties in which they should be darker and black on the breasts. Feet/shanks help as well, But not all the time... So does how they stand, most of the time cockerels will hold they're heads up right as roosters do to watch for predators and other things, a lot of the times also holding they're tail high.. Most of the time though i just look at color/comb. And by then can guess it.

Well, if you are correct about all that, then I would say rooster for sure... guess a little more time will tell. Thanks for all the help ya'll!

It's a EE, not an Ameraucana.
quick tip to tell, Green legs= EE
Rooster tail feathers grow slower than hens.
EEs because they are mutts that can be any color and have pea combs it makes them really hard to sex when young.

EE's can have other leg colors, and they aren't the only breeds with green legs

. Though i will admit 90% of the "what's that breed" threads on here with green legged birds are EE's.
