what breed is the olive eggs

For the really dark olive eggs you can take a pure Ameraucana and cross with a Black copper marans or a welsummer rooster. Some people cross with EE's too, but they may not be as dark. I have a green laying EE and a welsummer rooster, so I'm going to try it when he's old enough to mate.

Here's the olive egger thread. Lots of cool info.

Alright. I appreciat you all helping. Thanks alot. Will this littl epost still be on here in about a month or 2 ? I am am going to use it for future referances. Thanks for all of the help.

That is what we r trying to raise. We have 2 Welsummer roos and we just ordered some ee's, maybe next year we will have some dark olive egg !

It's so much fun experimenting to see what egg color you'll get! It's really best to use a rooster that lays an extremely dark egg, such as a Marans. A Welsummer will work, but you may not get quite as dark of an olive shade as you would with a Marans from a very dark egg laying line. Have fun!

I have 5 EE's that are in with my BCMarans roo and I can't WAIT for a broody to hatch me some little olive eggers

At least I hope they will be OE's!
