What breed is this bird?

A Los Angeles local called and asked me to pick up this chick, which had showed up in his yard. I have chickens but this bird doesn't look quite like any of the breeds that I'm familiar with. It is terrified like a wild bird, and I'm flummoxed trying to ID it. Anyone?

I'm not quite sure. Its very undernourished for sure. I'm not 100% sure its even a chicken.

I think you should wait until its had a chance to fill out again. It's very skinny.....
It will be much easier to tell then.

Yes, neither am I, I want to make sure I'm feeding it properly if it's not a chicken. Thanks for your response.
