What Breed is this Boy?

This lad is a rescue we took in a few weeks ago, folks are telling me he is a Barred Rock Roo.
He has started to put on some weight, he was very thin when we brought him home.

I thought I should come to the experts for the final call before i tell folks he is a barred rock

He is not a BR, nope. He may be a black sex link, which is 1/2 BR or he may be 1/2 Cuckoo Marans since he seems to have more whitish legs than the yellow of a regular black sex link. In any case, definitely can't be pure BR, if at all. He's a mix with at least one barred parent is all I can say.

Definitely not a purebred anything. Probably a Barred Rock cross or a Cuckoo Maran cross.

I didn't think he was purebred! But he is doing a great job looking after the girls.

He doesn't chase the kids OR sneak up and pounce on me when i am gardening like our last roo did just before he caught the bus to camp freezer!

Ain't nothing wrong with mixes. They're actually my favorite "breed."

Currently, most of my chickens are crosses.

I would post his pic on the marans thread. He looks like a golden cuckoo marans to me but I am no where close to being an expert. Very nice looking boy!

I'm not a Marans expert, either. I do think it's a possibility that he's at least half Marans, though. A good tempered rooster is a great thing!
