Hi there, we have one of the neighbors hens that has decided to be broody in our barn and I'm wondering what kind of chicken she is. The neighbor doesn't know and says he got a hatchery special with everything form black polish to araucana's and some in between. She's real pretty and I beleive the rooster looks like an aracauna to me but I'll try and get a pic of him maybe tommorow. She's sitting on a bunch of eggs, some are really like brown almost white and some are dark brown and speckled so it looks as if she wasn't the only chicken laying in that nest so it's anybody's guess what kind of chicks will be there. What do you all think?

Well, if they come from a hatchery, they are NOT Araucana or Ameraucana. They are EasterEggers.

Whatever she is, I'm pretty sure she is mixed. If she has green legs, my best guess would be EasterEgger.

Yes, hens usually share a favorite laying spot, and many times hens will even get in the nest with a broody to lay eggs for her to set on (personally had to deal with that one

). She's probly setting on a clutch full of different eggs.

I don't think she's an easter egger/ameracauna as there's no green eggs anywhere I was just saying basically she could be any kind of chicken. The neighbor got them last summer so she's not a mix unless they come from the hatchery mixed. I'm pretty sure her eggs are the dark brown/speckled ones. She's not a welsummer right?

Her lobes are colored not real sure but her curve to the beak and the coloring looks almost identical to a game mix hen I have who is an excellent broody by the way ...... I am guessing a game mix of some kind.....
