What breed is this chick?

Thanks for the photos and suggestions. We really are hoping it is a pullet - as we have got attached to it now and wouldn't be able to keep a rooster as we live in suburbia. You're right - we have been surprised how easy to look after and how much fun chickens are. I'm sure we'll be hooked now!

This chicken ended up being a Silkie Cross. Black skin and comb. Blue Ears and a black crest. A chicken breeder we took it to thought it is likely a Silkie crossed with Gold-laced wyandotte, but I guess the other chicken is a little harder to be sure of.
