You think she's older, huh? I guess I was confused by the pin-feather-ish feathers on her head. She is so small! A chicken this small is something I have to get used to. I took her out to meet the Ameraucanas this morning. SHE actually went after THEM, causing a very raptor/cockatoo-like reaction from Sadie -- all the feathers on her head stuck out like a big mane. Never seen her do that before. This little OEGB _jumped_ on her. Then all 3 separated, the 2 Ameraucanas in a pair, standing their ground a few feet away from each other. All 3 got to foraging. I scooped up the little hen a few minutes later and we went inside.
i don't THINK she's a roo, because her comb looks identical to a couple pics of hens I saw -- but I wonder if she will develop 'roo' characteristics, because 1. she's feisty and 2. our little flock (of 2, now 3) is all hens. Her feistiness is welcome -- 1 of our 2 Ameraucanas needs to be taken down a notch, anyway -- cuz she is just a b_ on wheels.
The little hen has so far made a couple hen-like "bawk bawk baGAWKs" but I'll let you all know if I hear any crowing
I hope she's a hen -- it's against the rules to keep roosters in Oakland.

TEASING YOU! hahahah.........she looks like a hen! Oh, i really do love mine! OAKLAND in da house! I rode through once and i think i was not in the good part. Me was scared! hahaha and thats saying alot being from Philly! i remember some bridge and construction also. one bad thump and we were going into the water.
Oakland is sketchy and shady and also pretty much rocks. I like it for its grittiness. It's like San Francisco's drunk, sort-of-embarrassing and hilarious cousin. It has its moments.
