I know how frustrating it could be when you have no idea what your new babies are. I obsess over my chicks, and need to know date & time of hatch, where, what feed they grew up on, etc. I document everything as if they were my first child. You'd think after my 6th time I'd get tired!! Nope. I kept journals during the first 3, photos from disposable cameras on the 4th, and a video diary on my first camcorder on the 5th. Now I'm doing a scrapbook, but journal style. Saving receipts from the hatchery, first leg band, photos, QR codes that link to video footage, etc. So silly, but so fun too!

I know what you mean about the mealworms. Oddly though, my cochin hen loves oyster shell as if it were candy! At least her eggs don't crack easily now )

I am new to this chicken keeping business, but I too have found myself obsessing over my chicks! Haha I spend sooo much time with them every time something new happens I run and share it with my husband. He says I am crazy! New sounds, new feathers, weight gain/loss, funny gestures, mean gestures, etc...

My wife and I are still a bit new to this as well when it comes to the different breeds. We were involved in a raid in the county to the west of us and we rescued 46 animals out of the 180+ that were rescued, there were more dead than there was alive.

Out of the 46 we rescued there were 2 Phoenix, 1 rooster & 1 hen. Going by your picture, she looks almost identical to the phoenix hen but with a few more black dots on her. If you do some looking on Google, I'd start with the phoenix breed and see where that leads you on finding out what she is for sure. But my guess would be phoenix.
