What breed is this pullet?

An Ongadori's skin should be yellow. Hers is white. I still believe she is mixed.

Did you go to this breeders house to pick them up? Did you see how their pens are setup?

yes, the pens were enclosed aviaries with one rooster each

Is yellow (legs) the breed standard for the onagadori? or by skin do you mean from somewere else on the body? where do i see the colour of the skin? sorry not too familiar with chicken identification just yet.

although for leg colours i found these pics of onagadois online, i do know my old phoenix roo had grey legs. because i see a variety of leg colours online, im not sure which is the breed standard for the leg colour.

I believe yellow is the standard. That means legs, and feet.

Sounds like maybe he did have breeding pens setup then. Could be an Ongadori. Time will tell!

ah okay thanks! guess ill wait it out, would be easier if this was a roo honestly. doesn't matter too much if she is a mix anyway was just curious

Just got word from the breeder! Shes a Japanese onagadori hen. What is the diffrences with onagadoris and phoenixes? Ive had a phoenix roo but never had an onagadori.

Onagadori is the long tail Japanese breed Phoenix chickens were evolved from in Europe. However, the pure Japanese Onagadori should have yellow legs. Maybe that leg color is the standard for your country. Difficult to say for sure but she definitely looks the part otherwise.

Also, white earlobes wouldn't be right for pure Japanese Onagadori. I really think that the standard for that breed must be different in your country. The pictures are stunning.

Onagadoris rooster's tails keep growing, and don't molt. A Phoenix rooster's tail does molt. There's more differences, but that's the one that I'm most familiar with.

Ohh i see. My old phoenix roo molted his tail a lot. I see long feathers everywhere
