Hello, I'm new to BYC And thought about posting to find out if this guy was really a Roo and he is

I was hoping he was too when I picked him out. A friend of mine had too many roosters and offered to give me one (Shes not sure on what breed he is either). So I picked out this handsome guy mainly because he was very calm and friendly, we only wanted a friendly rooster who wouldn't chase us or attack hens, my mom said that was impossible, but thankfully we found This guy I just love him. We used to have a roo a long time ago, but at the time we only had one hen and he would not leave her alone and so our neighbor gladly took him. So far he has been protecting the hens and lets me hold him and hasn't even pecked me once or acted dominant near me, but hes still young. Sometimes I wonder about my RIR Pullet though shes not very nice sometimes.

From what I have seen on other posts Im guessing he is a EE. He has the beard and tuffs and no wattles. And greenish legs. But his color confuses me. Anybody know what his color is called? I would like to show him in the fair, but I think he has to go under barnyard cross.
I'm not sure on his age, probably about 4-5 months so he will most likely change colors still. When I got him he was all black and white, now he is growing reddish feathers and his green tail feathers and saddle feathers are growing out nice, except the neighbors dog pulled a couple out

Well anyway here he is, I tried to get as many good pictures as I could, thankfully he was easy to handle today

Usually I have them free ranging 24/7 but the neighbors dog was making me really nervous, but I think my dogs chased her off. They are mad at me for keeping them locked up, they just love scratching in the horse poo

And if you need any other photos, just ask and I'll take em right away.

I would also like to see other pictures of EE Roos, I've only seen a few that look close to his color on here and would like to see if there were anymore.

Thank you

Looks like an EE to me! They don't really have specific colors, which is why they're so handsome!

ETA: Here's mine...he actually has a lot more red now that he's older:

Darn, well I guess its Barnyard Cross for this guy, but I have never shown chickens before

Thanks for the picture I just love that color <3

Wow I bet.
Im hoping to hatch a few eggs from this guy next spring. I need to get an incubator, or hope that my BO goes broody. But shes so getting pretty old( 5 years) and the winters here are kinda shaky for me. I lost 2 hens when it got down to 55 below. And my poor BO hen lived alone for 3 months, she was so happy when I got some chicks for her to care for. She still thinks they are her chicks and attack me when ever I need to hold them even though they are over 3 months

I wonder what a BO and and EE would look like or even GLW and and EE.

Sometimes we get 60 o__O And let me tell you taking care of horses in that weather is torture. But I have lived here my whole life and just love it freezing winters and all. Our summers get pretty hot too and the sun never sets, I bet the chickens get confused sometimes about when to roost at night, but thankfully the rooster only crows during the day, but I thought I heard something at about 3 AM in the morning last night, might have been that darn dog again >.<

Im thinking about getting some EE hens for him too next summer, but I can't find anyone near us who has them

That would be fun, I'll have to keep that in mind. But spring is so far away I don't know if I can wait

But first things first I need to sell my bunnies and buy a bator.
Thanks so much for the offer. I would just hate to get rid of any roos though

I can only have one.
