I was looking for a new rooster, preferably a rooster with genetics for colored eggs. My friend said she had some she was trying to get rid of. She said she thinks the one is a colored egger. He does look like one. He has feathering on his feet and beautiful silver-colored feathers! I tried to match him to the breeds that lay colored eggs, but I can’t find a match for him! No other colored egger roosters I looked at had that color of plumage. Does anyone know what breed this rooster is? Do you think he has the colored egg gene?

Maybe a blue orpington X EE... He looks almost exactly like one of my old EE roos in coloring but he definitely has some characteristics of an orpington roo.

I believe he has green legs (a murky green). I looked up images of a blue Orpington, he does look Somewhat similar. I’m thinking he may be mixed due to the brown feathering as well🤔

Also, he couldn't be purebred orpington because of the feathered feet... honestly he's probably a mutt of mutts but I believe those tend to be the best birds. My guess is that he probably will give you some colored egg layers.

His is a mixed breed cockerel. Likely carrying Cochin. I do not see Orpington in him. Hard to say if he carries any colored egg genes. My guess would be no.

Thanks for the replies! I’m excited to see what kind of offspring I get from him! My last rooster was a simple road Island red (or so I thought) but his offspring would lay colored eggs depending on the breed. His road island red daughters laid olive eggs and his leghorn daughters laid light blue eggs. Sadly, they all got Coryza and I’m having to start over.
