Hello everyone I just rescue this rooster which was being sold for consumption. The person who sold it to me said he probably won’t make it because he has a breathing infection. I took him in anyway and I think he has a high chance of making it but I was curious to know what type of breed is he. Any help will be appreciated.

Given the coloring and the little crest he's probably some kind of hatchery-hybrid "egger".

I personally would not want to bring any kind of infection onto my property and think that it's terribly irresponsible of the original owner to sell an unhealthy bird even with disclosure. :(

I was curious to know what type of breed is he.
I'm fairly sure he's a mix of some type.

I think he might be part Silkie.
I think I see a crest, and he's definitely got feathered feet and a comb that reminds me of other Silkie-cross combs.
He has normal feathers, which is qutie common in Silkie-mixes.

Does he have any extra toes? The normal number is 3 pointing forward and 1 pointing backward on each foot, but some breeds have an extra toe pointing backward.

He only has four.

I agreed but I couldn’t just leave him there 😞 the person that sold it to me sells chicken for meat not so much pet. They have hundreds of chicken. I just like saving those that no one else want.

Mutt. Looks to me like he has some silkie in him.

Be extremely careful bringing a respiratory infection onto your property. You do not want him to spread it to your birds. I'd recommend culling him, personally. For the protection of your flock.
