What breed is this rooster?

Opinions vary. To me the longish legs, body conformation, high carriage of the tail, and prominent breast, not to mention coloring, say game is in his mix somewhere.
Some Mediterranean breeds have similar body structure as well, & tail type. I suspect leghorn somewhere in his lineage. Possibly Andalusian based on the leg color.

I've gotten similar body types as well from specific crosses. Only Mediterranean within him comes from the Buff Orpington Lineage as Buff Minorcas were used in their making.

There's no way to know for sure about the rooster in the original post. It's just a guess on my part that game was involved in his mix, and I know it could be off, but that is my hunch.

Your rooster is handsome! I've never heard of Minorcas being involved in buff Orpington ancestry. The official cross I've read is ((Gold Hamburg x buff Cochin) x Dark Dorking)) x buff Cochin. That's according to William Cook. But Minorca could have been added later.

In my research I saw that Minorca was in their ancestry.

That's an old picture of Goober, he died of intestinal cancer a few years back at the age of 2.

Sorry for Goober. It's entirely possible buff Monorca was added later, but I don't think they were in the original crosses. I'm pretty sure buff Minorcas were developed after buff Orpingtons.

Black Minorcas were used for black Orpingtons, but black and buff Orps were created using different crosses.
