Can you help us identify the breed of these two beautiful blue egg laying chickens? We believe they're Americauna, but are unsure. They have muffs. We appreciate the help.

We considered that, but Easter Eggers are known to lay eggs ranging from green to blue, brown, or pale white or pink. We are only getting bright blue from a them only.

Easter eggers as a breed can lay any of the colors you mentioned. Each hen only lays one color egg, though. A hen won't lay blue one day and cream the next. Her egg color is genetic and set from birth. Your birds lay blue eggs and don't meet the standard for any breed, so they're Easter eggers by default.

Easter Eggers are called Easter Eggers because they could have genetics for laying just about any color egg. You never know what color they will end up laying, until they actually start laying those eggs. Each individual hen will only lay the color egg that they have the right combination of genes for, and she will only ever lay that color. Your girls just happen to have blue eggshell genes. They are still Easter Eggers, though.
