What breed is this?

Hi, I've gon around in circles trying to figure this out. We thought she was a Welsumer, then a Brown Leghorn, Then a Dutch. She lays white eggs and keeps trying to set. Please help! Thank You!

Thank You! But aren't they supossed to be, I don't know.... GOOD layers? I mean she rarely lays an egg and sits on everybody elses.

If she is broody, she won't be a great layer. They are not known for being broody, but it certainly can happen. Once a hen decides she wants to sit on eggs, she will usually stop laying until she manages to hatch out the chicks and they grow up a little.

But... she still gets off them when she gets bored and I still don't get eggs.

You can try and break her.

To break a broody, put the hen in question in some sort of cage with no access or sight to any nesting material or eggs. Only food and water. Typically, you're supposed to keep them in there until they lay an egg but I usually take mine out after a week or so when they're partially broken and after a few weeks they start to lay on their own again.
