Hello to BYC!
First time poster, first time father of chickens!!
My wife and I have moved from Australia to Honiara in the Solomon Islands and since we left our inner city townhouse to a relatively large property up here, I thought that I might get some chickens to run around the place and keep the guards entertained! So on the first weekend I went for a drive and bought a rooster and a hen from a village out of town. It was pretty funny watching these little kids chase the chickens around the village and finally, after agreeing on he price I was the proud father of two feathered friends. Since then I have bought 9 chicks that are growing up at a quite a fast rate. Since the introduction of the rooster to the property, I haven't had to set an alarm clock for the morning as I know when it's 430am every day!
I only have one problem now . . . . not knowing what sort of breed they are, and if they will ever lay eggs. So I thought that I would join this website, and ask the experts!! See image below:
