We rescued these chickens after they were abandoned at the shipping office. We got a call the first week of October that peeps were running loose in the back. Several had died by the time they were discovered. They could not locate the packaging to contact the shipper or receiver. An employee boxed them up and took them home but had no idea how to care for them. They thought someone would call about them but no one did. Several died in her care before I got the call. We only have a small backyard flock for eggs. The peeps looked like they might be Australorps like the 5 Aussies that we already have. We took the 22 that lived out of the original 40 and 2 died with in the next 2 days so we have 20 remaining. All of their beaks were trimmed and several had feet deformities such as curled toes and 1 has a neck deformity. All had yellow legs but most have turned dark grey with yellow on the bottoms however a couple still have mostly yellow with grey overtones. They were much slower to mature to the point that we could tell which were roosters vs. out Aussies. Now we are only seeing a few hens and all the rest are roosters. The combs seem to be really varied which isn't helping me narrow it down. We need to rehome the roosters but I don't even know where to begin with that. I think I need to start with determining the breed. The feed store folks have suggested Javas or Jersey Giants. I really hope someone on here can help. I took the best photos I could during feeding time in the morning. If I need to look for something specific please let me know. Thanks for your help :-)

Terrible people. :( I don't know what breed but if I lived close to you I would take a hen or two. They're really pretty.

I'm thinking Giants. That also explains why the males were so slow to mature and hard to tell from the hens.
