im trying to talk my dad into getting more chickens and he said only if he can get a hen that lays a really big egg what breed should i look for?

big is only half the equation. Sure the Jersey Giant lays pretty big eggs.. but 2 big eggs per week isn't as good as 4 almost the same size eggs. Plus the JG will cost more to feed.

So, if you want "big" eggs (the Large size at the supermarket) you want to look in to the following breeds:

Pearl White Leghorn (white egg)
Red Star (aka red sexlink; brown egg)
Black Star (aka black sexlink; brown egg)
Rhode Island Red (brown egg)

These breeds are the most consistent and most prolific layers.

ostrige! Sorry had to say it. But I get huge eggs from my Orps and my turkeys

My Hubbard Isa Browns lay the biggest -- aren't they considered a sex link, too? In general they lay my biggest and I commonly get double yokers. They are about 8 months old. Forgot to say -- they lay everyday without fail.
