Hi.
We adopted the chick on the left from our neighbor's daughter's roommate at college. She thought it would be fun to have a chick in their dorm room. We bought another chick from the feed store so it wouldn't be lonely. We think the chick on the right is a Leghorn (?) and wondered if someone could help us identify the chick on the left.

I do not know the age but it is not growing as fast as our other chick.
Any help would be appreciated....thanks!

I'm not sure about the smaller chick but can you post a picture showing the whole body of the white one? It looks a bit like a cornish x in that picture which would certainly explain why the other one isn't growing at the same rate.

The white one is definitely a cornish x, which is a meat bird. It will eat itself into an early death if there isn't careful restriction of its food. Most don't live past a year or so even with proper food restriction.

Chick on the left is not a buff Brahma, but a Millie Fleur D'Uccle.

I don't think the one on the right is a Leghorn though. . . But it is pretty young to tell, and looks like a dinosaur next to the bantam.

Thanks for all of the quick replies!

The chick on the right (Chip) does eat ALL the time. This is the first time we have had chickens and we thought it was normal. Chip is very friendly and we were thinking of keeping her as an egg laying pet. It is sad to find out she won't have a long life. I do not think I will be able to eat this bird.
