Got these chicks recently and we are wondering what breed we have? The family we got them from said they were a bantam chicken but did not classify what exact breed they are. They are 4 weeks old now and still very tiny. The feathers they have coming in are variations of gray on their wings/tail feathers and some on their legs. Any ideas?

🤔...
Is that a lightly feathered leg..?
Are they less than 10 days old?

Well... they don't look like cochin bantams or dutch bantams 😆

When I think if gray bantams, I think of Old English... but they have clean legs.

Maybe booted or lavender..?
Gosh, I wish I could be more help.
They are really pretty birds.

@TheOddOneOut and @Gray Farms identify breeds with amazing skill-- I bet they

Can you get a photo of their combs?

Brahmas (light or dark) would have shades of gray, and feathered legs, and pea combs.

That's an odd amount of feathering to have on the legs. Breeds that are supposed to have feathered legs usually have more, and clean-legged breeds of course have none.

They might be a cross, rather than any pure breed. Someone could have gotten bantams of several kinds and let them cross, and all the chicks would still be bantams (= small), but not any specific breed of bantam.

The coloring of the feathers coming in and the shape of the tail remind me of a silver sebright, but the legs (skin color and feathers) certainly don't. THose legs are really strange, because feather legged breeds would definitely have more.
