what breed of bantam cochins is this

it is black all over except on its belly which is white
 
I wouldn't say it's barred (most barred have a white spot on their head that gives that coloring away). This baby looks EXACTLY like the birchen cochins we ordered. Almost too much the same lol!
 
I just hatched a batam Cochin that looks just like this. Rooster is a birchen and the hen was black. I am fairly certain it will turn out birchen.

no it should be solid black when full grown...because black is dominate over birchen
 
Well, I'm sure you know better than I, in my very limited knowledge of generics, but conversations with breeders, I was to understand roo over hen would produce 50/50 or close to it. I have a very hard time grasping color genetics. I have had black Cochin chicks before however, and none had such markings. If what you say is true, my new breeder flock is going to be all black, as I purchased black and black frizzled hens to breed with the birchen roo for split coloring among the chicks!!!
