What breed of chicken is this?

Can someone please tell me what my girl is? She came from an Ideal Poultry assorted brown egg laying bin at my local feed store... she was a mystery chick until she was full grown and now she is IDENTICAL to the chicken on the cover of this book.

I have her, a rhode island red, and a silver laced wyandotte, so I'm trying to ID her so I can figure out who is laying which eggs.

Looks like some type of red sex link.

All of those breeds you listed are brown egg layers. Might take a little while to figure out which one is laying which egg.

The bird on the cover is a Red Sex Link. Easy way to tell if you’re looking at a Red Sex Link or pure red breed is to look at the fluffy feathers. Pure breed red birds have totally red down feathers, Red Sex Links will have white down on the area above where the feather attaches to the skin.

The bird on the cover is a Red Sex Link. Easy way to tell if you’re looking at a Red Sex Link or pure red breed is to look at the fluffy feathers. Pure breed red birds have totally red down feathers, Red Sex Links will have white down on the area above where the feather attaches to the skin.

She has a couple darker tipped tail feathers, but if you push them back around her neck, you can see the base of the feathers are white, even though you can’t see any white in her feathers. Just curious as to which two birds she’s a cross between

She looks a little like a new Hampshire red.

I had to put in a camera in the coop to ID who lays what egg with all the different brown layers. Just an idea.
