We were rehabbing 4 squirrels that had been living in a tree we cut down. One was badly injured and one regular injured, so we couldnt even try to reunite them with the mom. Raising baby squirrels without a mom is just rough, but rewarding and I definitely got attached. They were living in our kitchen until they needed more room and we moved them to a large cage on the back porch... now (literally today) we've opened a tiny door on the side of the cage so they can come and go but predators cant follow them in. We definitely kept them longer than was strictly required because we got attached, but they're free to come and go now. And two of the four came back tonight!

Dosing medicine to 5-6 week squirrels is a hoot. Such teeny tiny numbers that I had to get new syringes.
