Hi all!
I'm going to be buying my chickens this week and I have a question. I want to start with four, but should I get all the same breed, or different ones to trial what we like??

I like a variety of breeds when starting out so you can determine what you like. However, if you are considering either RIR or silkies, I'd get all the same breed. RIRs tend to be bullies of a mixed flock and silkies can be picked on.
Do you have breeds you are looking at?

I personally like to have a mixed flock with a variety. If you are getting a mixed flock, research your breeds and make sure they would do well in a mixed flock.

I vote for one of each, not all the same. The breed you've mentioned are generally compatible too. Will they be from a feed store/ If yes, you will have an Easter Egger, not a purebred Ameraucana. That's not a bad thing at all!
Post pictures when they arrive!

Brahmas are pretty nice chickens, mine aren't tame, so don't know about temperament, but I heard they are docile and sweet. They are quite a robust bird. You should get one of each color type for brahmas, there's three, light, buff and dark. That way you have a variety of color, if that is something you wish.
