easiest way to tell is just to sit there and watch. If he/she is DOING the mounting, then a male, but if he/she is GETTING mounted that doesn't exactly mean its a female. Crows...dead give away. but i wouldn't say the cricket like chirping is a dead give away to be a female, i've seen males do this as well. Size sometimes is a good factor, but with so many people breeding "jumbo" and non jumbo's together theres no way to really tell. i've got a dark range male that is huge, bigger then the females.

good thing to do is when you see a crow or a mount, grab that one up and put a little zip tie around its leg so you can tell who is who, thats what i do with my color variety that you can't visually sex.
