What breed of Quail is this?

It is similar to a Mountain Quail with a blueish chest and brown around it's face and on it's back and it's wings are brown with white stripes like this image

but it didn't have the topknot on it's head.
There was a few of them so it wasn't just one with a missing topknot.

Just guessing, was it a blue scale quail maybe? Has blue, brown and wing stripes

No it had more of a smooth blue, it was in Morocco if that helps.

This is the Californian quail it has a blue chest ,but not a brown head. hopes this helps!!!! The male is the one with the blue chest I think.

They look like Tibetan Japanese but it is quite hard to tell from the photo.

Look up a barbary partridge and see if that looks like what you saw. They have very similar markings though they have a black with white speckled necklace. Or perhaps it was another type of partridge considering it had no topknot? I love a mystery - hope you solve it.
