What breed - RIR / New Hampshire Red? (new pic below)

It wouldn't me. I've had mixed fowl come out of a hatchery.

He's got five toes on each foot, pink skin with a grey overtone, bay colored eyes, a crest, a walnut comb, and a few of his babies (when he bred to a silkie hen) will be silkie feathered.

That would be a blue barred color if it didn't have the red leakage.
barred x splash = blue barred.

Really? The exibition Rhode Island Reds I've seen all had black in their tails. They were at APA sanctioned shows.

I have a RIR cock and he has black tail feathers (so black they are a shiny green)...but RIR feathers are a much deeper red than the chicken in question in this post. New Hampshire's have a little bit lighter red to their feathers. Sometimes RIRs do not have black in their tail feathers, but the two I've had do (cocks, that is, not pullets); however, on the MyPetChicken.com site it shows RIRs WITHOUT black tail feathers, and they are even a DARKER red, so maybe there is some mixing somewhere in my cock's breeding lines.
