I have spent my time on this site among chicken people, but the DUCK people are even more enthusiastic!

Thank you for this post! I feel like we are of the same mind! I start out thinking I'll get one kind, but wait! These others are awesome! And these others are, too!I have Kkaki Campbell ducks and Perkins and they lay a lot of eggs (the Kkaki Campbells) I love my pekin he is too cute! I got ducks because I love them and they were cute and I didn’t really care about eggs. Kkaki Campbell’s are skittish they just have to get used to you and after awhile they’ll nibble your hand and such but thy aren’t super friendly. My pekin is just so darn cute lol! I really like my Pekin and Runners are adorable!! I would do a breed your husband likes as well because I find when you do a breed they like they want more!Kkaki Campbell’s I’ve heard aren’t good mothers (I will be testing that theory this spring) runners I heard are okay at being a mother but it all depends on the duck. Cayugas are great mothers tho. If you just want them for their cuteness Pekin and runners would probably be the way to go! Welsh Harlaquins are super cute too!
It truly does feel like being in a candy store! I’m ready to order more ducks and it’s soo exiting! You can have a mixed flock of ducks. You will loveeeeee ducks!! They are so funny and adorable!!
Hope this wasn’t too long

You can get 3 ducks of different breeds as long as they aren't muscovy. If you get muscovy you need at least 2 of themSo.... What if I got three ducks of all different breeds (that are similar-ish in size)? Would that be ok? I am really having a hard time deciding - LOL!
Thinking Runner (for me), Harlequin (for pretty-ness), and Swedish (for the hubby). You can get 3 ducks of different breeds as long as they aren't muscovy. If you get muscovy you need at least 2 of them
My Cayugas can fly over 4 foot fences and for pretty good distancesHi!
I have ALWAYS wanted ducks. I LOVE ducks. I plan to get a few this spring now that I have a lot more room. I have a small flock of chickens (getting more of those, too, come spring). These ducks will be pets more than anything, but I do like duck eggs!
Now that I am finally getting them, I am like a kid in a candy store! I don't know what kind to get! I adore Runners, but Cayuga are gorgeous. And Pekin are adorable. And my hubby likes Swedish. And Appleyards seem fantastic. Ahhhhhh!
I would prefer ducks who don't fly. They will be in a fenced area (about 1/4 acre in area) shared with my chickens, but they'll have their own wing of the chicken house (pardon the pun).
Advice? I'm leaning towards Runners for cuteness, but I've heard they can be really standoffish. I don't need them to be my best friends, but I need to be able to handle them to care for them.
TIA!
(I'm so excited!!!!)
