these chickens did not match any of the labels listed on the bin so I looked them up on Hoover’s identity a chick site and noticed they look like Appenzeller Spitzhauben. Comb and leg color appear to match too. What do you think? Any idea what else they could be?

So I caved and bought some. Here are some better pictures. Can anyone confirm that these are Appenzeller Spitzhauben’s?

Cute chicks. You’ve done as well as you can by knowing the source (Hoover) and checking out what they sell compared to what you have. Wait until real feathers come in and combs develop a bit more and you’ll know for sure in a few weeks. Enjoy your new little fluff balls!

This is too funny. I just bought my first ever chicks at tractor supply last Sunday and asked for 8 light brahma chicks. Fast forward to today and I noticed only 3 of the chicks have yellow legs with feathering, the other 5 have blue grey legs and also have a little puff on the tops of their heads. I also looked at the identify a chick site and decided they looked most like Appenzeller Spitzhauben chicks and I think I remember reading that breed name on one of the bins and laughing. I'll try to figure out how to upload a picture of mine!

Yes. This is what mine look like. I’m sure they are Spitzhaubens now. I’ve been reading some of the threads about them. They are just starting to get their mohawks now. I also got two light Brahmas with them but those were in a different bin at TSC.

When I realized what they were and they still had some if Tuesday I got 4 more. I have some friends that will want these so I don’t think I’ll have any trouble finding homes for the ones I don’t end up keeping.
