What breed / why does Breeder want her back??

Good, then I completely agree with @sourland about this... maybe she was somebody's pet, or the breeder thought she was an ameraucana... but she's not. Unfortunately easter eggers are commonly sold as ameraucana, and it fools a lot of people.

As of property... You still have your bill of sale, right? your receipt? I mean, its not like she's a rare bird, she's a mix. Idk why they'd be so adamant about it.
Confused me as well. No bill of sale. She was $2.

The short version... we’ve had this gal for MONTHS. She’s a family favorite. The breeders daughter sold us the chickens, she was not suppose to sell this one. Our info was recently located and they want her back. Is there a chicken code where we should? There is a 9 year old involved. This gal is very docile and good natured.

It’s really up to you. Will they replace the bird at no cost to you with bird of your preference and reimburse the feed and care cost in some way. Did you delay return by not contacting them right away. If not then it’s pretty unusual that the breeder wants her back. Up to you what you work out.

They lost our phone #. I responded same day. I don’t want a bad rap in the community :( If it was almost any other bird... or they had a reason. Just “not a colored egg layer like you wanted”. At this point I don’t even care if she lays eggs LOL she Makes my child happy and got him into chickens!

Absolutely do not give her back. Sorry but if it has been months they couldn't have been that bothered about her. The most common return period for any product is 28 days. Unless they are 'recalling' her because of a 'fault', e.g. They just realised she isn't the breed they claimed she was when you bought her, they have no moral right to demand her back. They should offer to buy her back from you for an exorbitant sum if they are desperate, and you should take pleasure in saying no thanks. :smack

I was hopeful she was a more expensive breed and I could just compensate them for the discrepancy.

April 20th. We’re well beyond 28 days

You won't get a bad rap in your community for keeping something you bought. It's not these people's chicken any more and they need to get over it, in my opinion. It might have been a pet, but more likely it is a case of a sore loser, as 2 dollars is a very low price for a pullet. That is not your problem. The other possibility is that you are dealing with crazy chicken hoarders, and if that is the case, you are saving your hen from a potentially horrible life. My advice is to just ignore them completely.

If it were me, I'd ask them frankly why do they want the bird back? What were the circumstances of the mix up when she was sold to you? It seems that if there was an emotional attachment to this pullet, that they would have contacted you before this. Monetarily, she has no real value as a breeder or show bird, of course she has value to you as your pet, and I think you are fully within your rights to keep her. If someone at the breeder's was attached to her, and that is the reason, explain to them that you're also attached. You would think they'd understand that. If they can't give you a really compelling reason to return her, just say no. If they do have a good explanation, then discuss it with your son, and see what he thinks. Sometimes kids can be very compassionate and generous.

It’s odd they don’t want the other 5!
