Where did you get it from? Could just be a random mixed breed, or could be a hatchery hybrid like Rainbow or Pioneer.

Tractor Supply. It is not supposed to be a mixed breed. It had a chipmunk stripe on it as a chick.The other two we got at the same time are Plymouth Barred Rocks.

Feed stores order mixed breeds from hatcheries all the time. That's what sexlinks and the meat breeds are. Considering the source, it's likely you have a Dixie Rainbow, which is a cross bred, dual-purpose bird that lays about 4 large brown eggs a week, and makes for a decent sized table bird.

Ok, they had two different bins. One was more expensive and said specialty breeds. I know it said plymouth barred rocks as one of the breeds, because we wanted some of those and got 2 black ones, but i cant remember what the other possibilities were. We also got some new hampshire reds from tractor supply too. We bought some of the cheaper mixed breeds too, but they are red sex linked.
