What breed?

Our first little chicks hatched today!!! As the eggs were given to us we have no idea on breed (just that they are not bantams!)
Any ideas??!

hmm it's hard to tell with such a young chick but my guess would be an australorp but i can't be sure. Congrats on the new additions!

At this point, all we can say is it's something black

Since you don't have any idea as to possible parentage, it's going to be impossible to know. We'll have better guesses once they're feathered out, around 5-7 weeks.

Haha! Okay cool Something black it is! Wasn't sure if certain breeds look distinctive at hatching or not. Asked the lady I got them from for the breeds of chickens she has and she said she's not sure....oh dear!! I have three little ones running around now, will be fun to watch them grow
