What breed??

what breed do you think this little one is? Also, I’m not sure if it’s a rooster or a hen? Any thoughts? She’s about 9 weeks old.

Looks like a Blue Laced Red Wyandonette cockerel. You have a very handsome boy!

Our other bantam turned out to be a cockerel (he crows) too so I was afraid of this we’re beginners...what makes you so sure he’s a cockerel? He got his waddle and comb a little later... we have a feeling our bantam Wilkie is a cockerel as well...so we’re feeling unlucky

Thank you! I’ll have to look up that breed. He’s a sweetie..hasn’t crowed yet..but is very skittish and a fast runner

You say the bird is 9 weeks? Those are huge wattles and red for that age. My 15 week golden laced girls don't have wattles that big or that red.

Pullets won't develop red combs and wattles until they get close to laying age. Some of my pullets that are 4 1/2 months old still have tiny pink combs and wattles when compared to this fella. I'm sorry it wasn't what you were hoping for!

Thanks for your replies! I’m happy to finally know his breed. We already have a bantam Cochin roo who is kind of the boss, so I’m assuming this might be why this little guy hasn’t started to crow. He’s pretty though.

She’s so pretty! Ya, I think he’s about 9/10 weeks. And he’s a bantam? that’s possible with this breed right?
