Hi! I have an 11-week old cockerel who looks like a buff orpington but I don't think he is. Can you help me identify his breed? He has black spots at the neck line and no tail I think. He's also smaller than the same-age pullets that I have. He's super friendly and loves people. Thank you!

The mixed theory makes sense. He was born with no tail and never got one. And I got the fertilized eggs from a farm that has Americanas. I think you're all right, a mix of buff and Americana. I just wish he was a pullet though. Going to find him a nice new home. Thank you so much for your help!!

Just to reiterate what others have said - they are guessing he’s an Araucana cross, not Americana. In fact, there is no such breed as Americana - an “Americana” is a mislabeled Easter Egger. Araucanas are the only breed that doesn’t have a tail.
