This chicken showed up on my neighbor's doorstep and sat there all day. I have adopted her (unless we find the owner.) She is small, very calm and friendly, and lets my children handle her. She's got some feathers along the sides of her legs. She pecks our pet rabbits if they get near her, calmly but quite aggressively. An internet search let me to think she may be a Buff Columbian Rock Bantam, Buff Sussex Bantam, Buff Columbian Brahma Bantam, or a Buff Brahma Bantam. What do you all think, and can you tell me any facts about the breed? This is our first chicken (but probably not our last; we LOVE her.) Thanks!

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. My first thought was buff brahma but after remembering mine, my pullets didn't have the comb size of yours and so if it is a cockeral, it doesn't have the coloring of a buff brahma roo. :idunno

She appears to be a mature hen who is either already laying eggs or getting ready to. I base this on the bright red face and enlarged wattles and comb. Her body type isn't Brahma-ish. Only certain breeds have feathered shanks/legs, so that can help eliminate several options. Of all the breeds you listed, Brahma is the only one with feathered shanks. She has the appearance of a mixed breed.

A bit of research has changed my mind.
I vote Buff Columbian Bantam D'Uccle, probably from a hatchery due to the absence of a beard.

Hello! I love your new hen that found you. I have no idea what breed she is, but she is very pretty.
