What breeding projects are you working on or you want to work on.

Well I'm not quite underway with either of my 2 projects yet but working on it so I should be soon, well I say that. I did receive my F1 chicks in Feb. this year and got them raised up and into production so I guess I'm underway sorta. I'm in on the developement of a new strain of Delawares along Mrs. Kathy (kathyinmo) ,har, TACEYPERKINS, joletbey, and a few others I can't recall right off the bat. But anyhoo, Mrs. Kathy is already on a good roll with hers as she's already hatched out 3 settings of F2s and has another batch to go still yet and har just hatched out his first setting here in the past few days.

Its a very interesting project and I guess we Delly projecters should all get together and start a thread on them for "follower-a-longers"

to be able to see and keep up with our results. Mrs. Kathy has pics posted on the Show Off your Delawares thread its located in the Breeds...ect section and on the Sdwd thread its in the Random...sect. if anybody wants to do a search or look them up. I've yet to post any and I keep promising to do so, so I reckon I ought to get on the stick and get'er dun, huh.

BTW the way all this got started is by Mrs. Kathy going out on the limb and expense of getting good heritage stock to start off with. She got Barred Rocks from Jeremy(j-whip) out of the Good Sheppard flock and New Hampshires from Doug Akers and they are out of stock imported from Germany because they are better stock than currently found in the USA as the New Hampshire breed stock is in "critical" status on the ALBC list. But hopefully with her help and a few of us others maybe in a few years we can get them bumped up a rung or two on the list so there's another future project I plan on ensuing soon. Oh yeah the other I was talking of earlier at first is a Buff Barred (lemon cuckoo, red barred.... ect. pictured in my avvy, there are numerous names for the feather color pattern but you get what I'm meaning)project. I think they are just beautiful myself.
Oh and BTW loved the Crele patterned Chantecler pic. too Cloverleaf Farm. Heck I like all the projects on here, I love mixing things up (DIFFERENT) yeah that's it different.

Anyone doing anything with jersey giants? i love them i think there size is awesome and i'm planning on getting some when we move. also would a jersey giant mix well with a sex link hen, would that work out well? i have one amazing gold sex link hen, she is super friendly she lets me pick her up whenever, good size body and big eggs (large or even extra large

) that are on the darker brown side. one more question i have a great barred rock i'm wondering if i should plan on breeding her or not cause her egg size is lacking, other than that she is a great hen! (i can post pics if any wants to see!)

Hi,
I would love to get started in Cuckoo Sussex and Red Sussex. Had cuckoo before in Marans. Studied Reds in Marans, Euskal Oiloa and Sussex.
Right now I have 2 BTB French Marans pullets who are my egg flock. I have a quad of Speckled Sussex coming the end of the month.
Best,
Karen in western PA, USA

I want to experiment with crossing Silkies and Polish. I saw a pic of one and it was too cute! But would you call them Pilkies or Soulish?:-D
